1Support services rather than a product

This is not a contract to buy a specific AI product — it procures the people and expertise (program support services) needed to advance IT, AI and ML efforts. Behind the visible product purchases, much of government AI spending flows into contracts for the staffing and know-how that enable adoption and operation.

2Modernization demand at civilian agencies

The Department of the Interior oversees national parks, Native American affairs, land and resource management, and geological survey — showing that civilian (non-defense, non-intelligence) agencies also generate demand for IT/AI modernization support. The recipient, Tuknik Government Services, provides IT and professional services to government.

3Outlays can be read in about half the records

Of the 222 federal spending records this site holds as of 2026-09-01, 117 carry an outlay figure that reads as a number. Fifty of those are zero, and the median across the readable ones is about $0.29 million.

Obligations state the ceiling of a contract; outlays are what was actually paid. In half the records the value cannot be had at all, and among those it can, more than four in ten are zero. Summing obligations and calling the total money spent departs from what happened.
